These are gorgeous, model’s feet. They’re spotlessly clean and healthy. Look at those smooth heels and perfect nails! They’re blemish-free with not a single corn or callous in sight. And perhaps there’s also been a touch of photo editing…
Very few of us could ever achieve “Barbie feet” no matter how much time and money we spent. However, regardless of age, sex, build, occupation, fashion and health status we can all aim for the most comfortable, attractive and best feet possible for each of us individually.
Resolve problems
First on the list of caring for your feet is making sure any problems are resolved. Are you suffering pain somewhere on your feet? Are you diabetic and need to watch your feet carefully? Might you have an ingrowing toenail? A painful corn or callous? Painful heels or arches? Do you suffer with chilblains which make your toes burn and itch unbearably? Has the skin between your toes split through athelete’s foot? Do you suffer with poor circulation or water retention, making your feet, ankles and calves ache and feel heavy? Is your mobility unsteady? Are long nails making your toes hurt or catching in your bedding? This can pull nails off leading to soreness, bleeding and possible infection. Is the skin on your feet dry, itchy or flaky? Are your feet unsightly with thick or fungal nails? Numbness or altered feeling in the feet are also common.
There are so many foot issues which can cause discomfort, possibly affecting your ability or motivation to walk and do things you enjoy. This can create a knock on effect which may make you walk differently, put stresses on other parts of the body and cause further problems.
The moral of the story is basically to resolve any issues, quickly. All the above are common, curable and as a minimum, very improvable. If you’d like help with any of the above, please book in to resolve your particular concerns. Every client leaves my clinic smiling and relieved and at least 80% book further regular foot care.
Attend to foot hygiene and health
Foot hygiene and health are additional important factors of basic foot care. Hygiene extends to socks, tights, pop socks and footwear too. If you’d like help with personal care of your feet, consider our Big Deep Clean. It covers far more than a pedicure and addresses all hygiene issues resulting in squeaky clean, moisturised skin. A major benefit of this treatment is it leaves you energised with enhanced feeling in the feet aiding mobility and balance. Clients report significant improvement lasting from days to weeks.
Foot health and overall health require keeping sufficiently active to promote circulation, a healthy mindset and staying physically well. Try to just keep moving and when resting, put your feet up to hip level to avoid swollen feet and aid circulation.
Care for body, mind and spirit
It’s hard to beat the sense of wellbeing inspired by personal therapy and self care; whether it’s an exercise class, having a beauty treatment, having your hair done or a foot care or foot massage session. I hear “I love having my feet done” several times daily, whether that’s having a foot problem resolved or experiencing the peaceful sense of balance a foot massage brings. Our Big Deep Clean is equally enjoyable with great results every time.
Taking care of your feet will keep them active, healthy, pain-free and attractive. And with more care and attention, perhaps you too can have feet like Barbie!
